As different groups continue to voice their preference for the incumbent Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri in the November 11, 2023 Guber election, a professional body, Bayelsa Tech Innovators Forum (BTIF) has joined the fray by throwing its weight behind the reelection bid.
The Forum which comprised of prominent figures in the technology sector within the state, cited the governor’s steadfast commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement as the driving force behind their endorsement.
Speaking at a press conference held in Yenagoa on Monday, the spokesperson for the Forum, Dr. Gius Nengia highlighted the various initiatives and policies implemented by the Diri administration that have created an enabling environment for tech startups and entrepreneurs to thrive.
These, he said, include increased investment in digital infrastructure, the establishment of tech hubs, and partnerships with educational institutions to enhance STEM education.
The Forum also praised Governor Diri’s efforts in promoting job creation within the tech sector, which he pointed out, has contributed to reducing unemployment rates among the state’s youth population.
The group believe that Governor Diri’s visionary leadership and continued support for the tech industry are essential for Bayelsa’s progress in the digital age.
Reeling out it’s aims and objectives, Dr. Nengia said BTIF strives to accelerate the growth of technology within the state and create an environment that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship.
“The forum aims to establish a thriving tech ecosystem within Bayelsa State, bringing together startups, investors, researchers, and industry experts to collaborate, share knowledge, and drive collective progress.
“One of the primary aims is to empower local tech talent by providing access to resources, training, and opportunities that enable them to create impactful solutions and contribute to global technological advancements”, he said.
Dr. Nengia also disclosed that the forum intends to collaborate with local universities and colleges to develop curriculum, conduct tech-related programs, and encourage students to pursue careers in technology.
