…Aspirants Besiege Homes Of Influencers For Endorsement

With the present Council Chairmen in Rivers State going the last lap of their three-year tenure, the social media is already abuzz with political fervor ahead of next year’s local government election.  And, in the picturesque enclave of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), nestled between canals and lush greenery and reputed for its rich oil and gas deposit, the atmosphere is charged with the excitement of democracy in action.

Several aspirants have reportedly thrown their hats into the ring, each aspiring for the coveted position of Executive Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.

From seasoned politicians to fresh faces in the political arena, the field is as diverse as it is competitive. The aspirants have been making the rounds, attending community meetings, visiting local markets, and hosting sessions to connect with the electorate.

The people of ONELGA are not just spectators; they are active participants in the democratic process, engaging in discussions, and evaluating the promises made by those who aspire to lead. They are keen to see who will step up once more, to address their needs and concerns.

But feelers from ONELGA indicate growing agitations by leaders of Usomini clan of Ogbaland (North and South), demanding that the Chairmanship of ONELGA should this time, be zoned to them, citing equity and justice.

It is also understood that several other aspirants who are not Usomini, including the incumbent, Hon Job Vincent are equally eyeing the coveted seat, ready to grab it should the Usomini debate not get resolved.

However, as the clock speedily ticks towards 2024 with ONELGANS eagerly anticipating the opportunity to choose a new Chairman or retain the incumbent, some aspirants have reportedly embarked on consultations, seeking the endorsement of influential figures.

Top on the list, as captured on the social media, are Hon. (Dr) Promise Edemiah , Prince Kelvin Ekelechukwu Umejuru, Gift Dappa, and Messiah Eliozu among other aspirants, who have visited the Uwhesi Royal Palace of Bro. Felix Amechi Obuah, to intimate the Mba-Anabara Agu and Ikemba Idemili, of their intentions and possibly seek his royal blessing. A prominent political leader in the area, Chief Vincent Elemchukwu Orji (Okosisi) was also said to have led a team of politicians to the palace of Bro. Obuah in what may not be unconnected with the upcoming local government election.

The aspirants are traversing the nooks and crannies of the land connecting with constituents and presenting their own visions for a brighter future of ONELGA.

In this tranquil corner of the world, where tradition meets modernity and community bonds are strong, the ONELGA Election of 2024 is not just about politics; it’s about the shared vision for a brighter tomorrow.

The election is far from predictable as this democratic showdown is expected to shape the course of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area’s development for years to come.

As 2024 draws nearer, only time will tell how the political landscape unfolds, but one thing is certain – the 2024 Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Election is set to be a defining moment for ONELGA.
