Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made a sudden move, suspending the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Barrister Otonye Briggs, effective immediately
In a swift transition, Hon. Bitebobo Nelson Amieye has been appointed to take over as Briggs has been instructed to hand over all council properties in his possession to the new Chairman.
This development was announced by Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, in a public service announcement yesterday, September 17, 2024.
The reasons behind Briggs’ suspension are not yet clear, but the governor’s swift action indicates a significant decision.
