The Non-Indigene Media Influencers in Rivers State have formally endorsed Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, for the substantive chairmanship position.
The endorsement ceremony, which took place on Saturday at Woji Community Town Hall, Port Harcourt, was attended by media influencers from the non-indigene community.
In her speech, Convener of the Non-Indigene Media Influencers, Hon. Mrs. Innocencia Precious Peters, praised Amb. Ihunwo’s exceptional leadership and the tangible benefits he has brought to Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
“Amb. Ihunwo has demonstrated exemplary governance in his few months in office, marking a period of significant improvement and enhanced democratic dividends for Obio-Akpor,” she said.
Mrs. Peters highlighted Amb. Ihunwo’s commitment to inclusivity, citing the appointment of non-indigene media influencers to significant positions, empowerment packages, and bursaries for students.
Also speaking, the Obio-Akpor Ward 6 Women Leader, Hon (Mrs) Stella Eke, praised Amb. Ihunwo’s achievements.
“Amb Chijioke Ihunwo is doing very well. We are solidly behind him and urging him to contest the chairmanship of Obio-Akpor Local Government.”, Eke said.
The Youths President, Ndigbo Community in Rivers and Bayelsa States, Engr Maurice Ugochukwu Okpara, also endorsed Amb. Ihunwo, urging him to run.
His words, “I am calling on Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo to come and run for Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government. As a matter of fact, we are not begging him.
“We shall purchase the form for him. He is a lover of the non-indigenes. He has a heart to carry everyone along regardless of where you come from. Amb Chijioke Ihunwo, you must go for us.
Other speakers at the event, including representatives of non-indigene students in Obio-Akpor, expressed joy that Amb. Ihunwo has shown that he truly cares about their welfare and unanimously declared they will support him all the way.
The Non-Indigene Media Influencers urged all well-meaning people of Obio-Akpor to continue in their support for the CTC Chairman, citing his track record of success and numerous benefits to the communities and LGA at large.
