The momentum for Mr. Chimuenya Henry Umejuru’s chairmanship bid ahead of the October local government elections in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) and across the state, continues to grow as more youth and community groups endorse his candidacy.

In the past week, four prominent groups have visited Umejuru at his Omoku residence, pledging their support for his quest to lead ONELGA. The groups include the paramount Rulers of Ogba Kingdom (Ochiohnas), Ogba Egbema Ndoni Students Association (ONESA), Youth Ambassadors of ONELGA (YAO), and the Egbema Voice Initiative (EVI).

During the visit of the Ochiohas on Monday, August 12, 2024, their spokesman, HRH Eze Michael Olowu, the Ochi Oha of Obohia, offered his blessings to Mr. Umejuru and commended his courage. Other notable figures who voiced their support for the aspirant included HRH Eze Isaac Umah, Ochi Oha of Ede and Chairman of Egi Ochi Ohas; HRH Eze Christopher Chibor, Ochi Oha of Okansu and Chairman of Igburu Ochi Ohas; HRH Eze Christian Nkisa, Ochi Oha of Obrikom for Usomini Clan; and HRH Eze Ugochukwu, Ochi Ije ndi Igbo of Ogbaland. Each leader took turns to bless the young aspirant.

Earlier, Mr. Chimuenya Umejuru introduced himself as a native of Idu Ogba community and a businessman committed to rectifying past wrongs in the LGA. He expressed his desire to serve as the Chairman of ONELGA in the upcoming local government council election. As a gesture of respect, he and his team presented the royal fathers with a live cow, drinks, traditionally blended Ogba kola, and a cash gift.

The event also featured collective prayers for Mr. Chimuenya Henry Umejuru, along with joyful celebrations and group photographs.

Similarly, the Youth Ambassadors of ONELGA (YAO), a prominent youth group in the area, has thrown their weight behind Mr. Chimuenya Henry Umejuru in his bid to become the next Executive Chairman of ONELGA.

At a meeting held in honour of the Chairmanship aspirant in Omoku, the group’s leader, Mr. Chuks Igwe, said, “We, the youths of ONELGA, have watched your philanthropic efforts through the HH Foundation and your business acumen as CEO of HH Hotels and Apartments.

“You have created jobs and empowered our people. We believe you are the most qualified to lead our local government.”

Mr. Igwe added that Umejuru’s commitment to community development and his vision for ONELGA’s growth make him the ideal candidate, promising to mobilize their members to ensure his victory.

Ms. Blessing Nwankwo, a member of YAO, said, “As a youth, I have benefited from Umejuru’s empowerment programs. He has shown us that he cares about our future. His leadership will bring prosperity to ONELGA.”

Mr. Emmanuel Ifedi, another member, added, “Umejuru’s business experience will attract investments to our local government, creating opportunities for our people. He is the leader we need to take ONELGA to the next level.”

The group presented a letter of endorsement to Umejuru, pledging their support for his candidacy.

Responding, Umejuru thanked the group, saying, “I am humbled by your trust in me. I promise to work tirelessly for the development of ONELGA and the empowerment of our youths if given my party’s ticket.

A delegation from the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Students Association (ONESA), led by Comrade Richard Omeluzor on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Umejuru at his residence in Omoku.

During the visit, the students pledged their unwavering support for Mr. Umejuru’s aspirations and presented him with an award of excellence, lauding his strong commitment to student welfare.

Comrade Omeluzor praised Mr. Umejuru’s contributions, stating that his support has significantly promoted academic excellence, fostered inclusivity, and contributed to the economic growth and progress of ONELGA.

In accepting the award, Mr. Umejuru expressed his gratitude to the leadership of ONESA for the honor, reaffirming his dedication to prioritizing student welfare and advocating for their needs.

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, The Egbema Voice Initiative visited the ONELGA Chairmanship hopeful in Omoku to throw their weight behind his aspiration.

Represented by Mrs. Joy Nkemdiri, the group emphasized Umejuru’s commitment to community development, stating, “He has supported our initiatives and listened to our concerns. We trust him to amplify our voices.”

As the Director of HH Foundation and owner of HH Hotels and Apartments, Omoku, Umejuru has been recognized for his philanthropic efforts in ONELGA. His campaign promises to focus on economic empowerment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

With the October 2024 election approaching, Umejuru’s growing endorsements signify a strong momentum for his chairmanship bid.

Umejuru’s campaign team has announced plans to embark on a ward-to-ward tour, engaging with citizens and sharing his vision for ONELGA’s future. As the election draws near, the people of ONELGA eagerly await the opportunity to choose their next leader.
