The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has postponed its annual Press Week by one week due to the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Nationwide Protest.

The event, which was initially scheduled to take place from August 2nd to August 11th, will now hold from August 13th to August 18th, 2024.

Rivers NUJ Chairman and Secretary, Comrades Stanley Job Stanley and Ike Wigodo, respectively, apologized for the inconvenience caused by the postponement, particularly to the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and other invited dignitaries.

Despite the setback, the NUJ assured that all activities planned for the Press Week remain unchanged, including the opening ceremony, workshop for journalists, thanksgiving service, and dinner/awards night.

The event aims to bring together journalists and stakeholders to promote professional development and excellence in the field.
