The Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition (RSEYLC) has condemned the attempted detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) near Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt.

A statement by the Chairman of RSEYLC, Engr. Legborsi Yamaabana, whose coalition represents various ethnic groups in the state, expressed outrage over the incident, labeling it as a threat to public safety and economic stability.

Yamaabana emphasized that such actions would disrupt governance and business activities, and called for swift and thorough investigation by federal authorities.

Recall that during a protest led by former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Martins Amaewhule, the IED was reportedly discovered, prompting questions about the involvement of Josiah Preye, identified as the bomb detonator.

Engr Yamaabana raised concerns about the contents of a bag carried by a barefooted young man in a related video, and discussions captured between Hon. Martins Amaewhule and General Whosky during the protest.

He called for transparency and accountability in the investigation process, urging authorities to uphold the highest standards of conduct.

Despite the incident, RSEYLC has reassured potential investors that Rivers State remains a safe and prosperous business environment in Sub-Saharan Africa.

They cautioned youths against blindly following leaders associated with such incidents, emphasizing the importance of responsible leadership to safeguard peace and progress in the state.
