The leader of the Nigerian Ethnic Forum (NEF) in Rivers State, Chief Uchenna Okokoba, has praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara for promoting inclusivity in the appointment of non-indigenes as members of the Local Government Caretaker Committees in the twenty-three LGAs across the state.
Chief Okokoba in a statement he personally signed in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, said the non-indigenes in Rivers State are pleased with their inclusion in the affairs of the state.
He emphasized that the appointment of non-indigenes in the 23 LGAs demonstrates the Governor’s recognition of the efforts and sacrifices made by non-indigenes towards the development of the state.
The NEF leader, in the statement, specifically praised the Special Adviser to the Governor on Non-Indigenous Matters, Chief Dr. Sam Anya, for fostering unity among non-indigenous communities and collaborating effectively with Rivers indigenes to support the state government.
He applauded Chief Anya who also doubles as the Coordinator of Non-Indigenes in the State, for working closely with the teeming Rivers indigenes to support the governor’s administration.
Okokoba, who is also the Director of Mobilization of the Non-indigene Simplified Movement in Rivers State, also highlighted the Governor’s commitment to a ‘pan Nigerian’ approach, believing it will enhance peace, unity, and progress within Rivers State and beyond.
The charismatic chief concluded by drawing parallels to former Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s inclusive policies, which similarly benefited non-indigenes during his tenure.
This move is seen as a significant step towards fostering unity and equitable representation in Rivers State governance.
