Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated High Chief Dr. Christopher Ndubuisi, a business mogul and philanthropist, as a member of the governing council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
The inauguration took place at the State Executive Council Chambers in Government House, Awka. Other members of the council include Prof. Chidi Odinkalu (Pro-Chancellor/Chairman), Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Igwe Oranu Chris Chidume, and AIG Chris Ezike (retd.).
Governor Soludo emphasized the importance of the university as the pinnacle of tertiary education in the state. He charged the council with creating an educational system that aligns with the state’s future goals. “The primary challenge you have is to work hard to reinvigorate and regenerate the university for the times we live and the times yet to come,” Soludo stated. He stressed the need for the university to develop a unique identity and brand.
Addressing fiscal challenges, Soludo encouraged the council to strive for excellence despite limited resources. He expressed his passion for the university and his desire to see it become a leader in Nigerian higher education. The governor also pledged support for the council within the limits of available resources.
High Chief Christopher Ndubuisi, in his remarks to the press, thanked Governor Soludo for the appointment and promised to work diligently to make the university a reference point in tertiary education.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Secretary to the State Government Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Education Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Commissioner for Special Duties Barr. Beverly Nkemdiche Ikpeazụ, and Chief Protocol Officer Hon. Chinedu Nwoye.
