As women all over the globe celebrate the World Women’s Day, the lawmaker representing Sagbama Constituency 3 in Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon (Mrs) Ebizi Cockeye-Brown, has urged her constituents to embrace their natural role as nation builders.
In a goodwill message released to women of her Constituency, Friday, March 8, 2024, Hon Brown, an advocate for women empowerment and gender equality, emphasized the pivotal role that women play in shaping society and called on them to sustain their efforts in nation-building
“Today, as we celebrate the achievements of women around the world, I want to remind each and every woman not only in Sagbama Constituency 3 but in the state as a whole, that we possess immense power and potential to shape the future of our nation.
“Our roles as mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives are not mere titles but positions of influence that can drive positive change.”, she said.
The esteemed lawmaker highlighted the multiple roles women assume in their daily lives, from being caregivers within their families to actively participating in community development
She praised the resilience, strength, and determination of Sagbama’s women, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the growth and progress of Bayelsa State.
“We have witnessed the transformative power of women throughout history. Our ability to multitask, empathize, and lead with compassion is an asset that should be cherished and utilized,” she stated.
Hon (Mrs) Brown urged each and every woman in the Constituency to sustain their efforts to continue breaking barriers, and to inspire the younger generation to follow in our footsteps.
She also emphasized the importance of education and economic empowerment for women, promising to work tirelessly to create more opportunities and support systems for her constituents.
She called on the government and private sector to collaborate in providing equal access to education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship opportunities, ensuring that women are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive.
