The private residence of Mariya Mahmoud, minister of state for the federal capital territory (FCT) has been razed by fire.
The outbreak, which occurred on Sunday afternoon at the residence located in the Asokoro area of Abuja, resulted in significant damage to the property.
According to Austine Elemue, the media aide to the minister, firefighters were reportedly slow to respond to distress calls, exacerbating the situation. Unfortunately, first responders were unable to salvage any belongings from the house.
While the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined, preliminary suspicions point towards an electrical spark. However, a thorough investigation is underway to ascertain the precise cause of the outbreak.
Thankfully, there were no reported casualties resulting from the fire. Nonetheless, the incident underscores the importance of robust fire safety measures and prompt emergency response protocols to mitigate such unfortunate events in the future.
