The Senior Cleric at Distinction Ministries, Port Harcourt, Pastor Alfred Akuchukwu has commended the Gateway International Church (GIC) for the construction and dedication of a magnificent new church named “Altar of Mercy” in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Akuchukwu, popularly called ‘Pastor Alfred’, made the commendation at the Altar of Mercy ground, along the Rumuolumeni-Ogbogoro Road, Port Harcourt, in the early hours of Saturday, shortly after the commencement of this year’s Vigil of Destiny on Friday, July 7, 2023.

Pastor Alfred who addressing reporters, said with the inauguration of the Altar of Mercy, a new chapter in the spiritual landscape of Port Harcourt has began, radiating hope and peace for all who seek solace and enlightenment in their journey towards divinity.

He expressed joy and gratitude with the Lead Pastor of Gateway International Church, Pastor George Izunwa, noting that his vision and unwavering faith has birthed the facility which he described as a harmonious nexus where divinity and humanity converge.

“There are things you see and you can never deny seeing the work of God, just like it happened in Acts 4:16. Everything about the “Altar of Mercy” is an obvious reflection of the hand of God upon His servant, Pastor George Izunwa and also the love of God in the GIC family”, he said, adding, “There’s nothing we truly receive from God by merit, it’s only by mercy. This can be confirmed from Zechariah 4:6.

He went on: “The Altar of mercy is the best place to encounter the Almighty because when you meet Him on the mercy seat, unfavorable verdicts are annulled, untoward protocols are suspended, and malicious judgments are nullified because justice becomes tempered with mercy.

“Considering the magnitude of global anointing demonstrated by Papa George Izunwa and how God personally introduced Himself in this night of the VOD23, it is crystal clear that God has chosen that camp ground as a meeting point for divinity and humanity where souls are nurtured, hearts are mended, and lives are transformed.”

The youthful pastor expressed confidence that “All nations are getting set to regularly come to seek God and find help at the Altar of Mercy camp ground of the Gateway International Church. This sacred facility is a meeting point between divinity and humanity

Pastor Alfred also expressed profound appreciation for the unwavering support and dedication shown by the members of Gateway International Church throughout the entire construction process. He credited their collective prayers and tireless efforts for the successful completion of the Altar of Mercy, which he described as a beacon of hope for the church.

“The inauguration of the Altar of Mercy is not just a celebration of a physical structure; it represents the culmination of our collective dreams and aspirations,” he declared, adding, “This place of worship will serve as a sanctuary for the weary souls, a refuge for the broken-hearted, and a source of divine inspiration for all who seek solace and spiritual nourishment.”

Recall that the Altar of Mercy, currently hosting the Vigil of Destiny programme as well as the weekly Bible Studies is a project that was conceived less than three months ago by the Lead Pastor of GIC, Pastor George Izunwa, and officially put to use during the opening of the ongoing Vigil of Destiny, July 7, 2023.

Designed to accommodate thousands of worshippers, the Altar of Mercy boasts highly effective audiovisual systems, ensuring that every worshiper can experience the sermons and teachings with utmost clarity and reverence.
