As reactions trail the ongoing governorship election across the country, voters in Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State have been lauded for conducting themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner.
Addressing the press shortly after casting his vote at Unit 1, Ward 6 in Opobo Town on Saturday, the Head of Cockeye Brown War Canoe House of Opobo kingdom, Alabo Edwin Cockeye Brown, described the exercise as very peaceful and transparent.
“The voters conducted themselves in such a manner suggesting a people of one mind. This Unit 1 is known for their political plurality, but everyone came, beaming with smile, cast their votes quietly, and greeted one another like a family”, he said.
Alabo Cockeye Brown said feelers from other units in the kingdom, also indicated a hitch-free exercise.
“That’s the kind of spirit we should imbibe in the election process. Election should not be a do or die affair”, he posited.
While also commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) doing a good job, the War Canoe House chief charged the electoral to sustain the tempo in future polls.
