…We’ll crush any such attempt, says security sources

Tension is building up in Enugu as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, gets set to announce the outcome of the governorship election in the state which collation has been completed.

Kentochmedia gathered that the Labour Party which is trailing the Peoples Democratic Party in the results collated so far is mobilizing across the state to storm the INEC headquarters in the state to disrupt the proceedings.

The claim is also supported by the message currently circulating on various WhatsApp alleged to be from the governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeoga.

“Let us occupy INEC office this Monday morning to protest the attempt to frustrate the democratic choices of a majority of the people in Enugu State,” Edeoga allegedly posted in one of his support groups.

However, a security source who spoke to our correspondent, said they’re aware of the plot and assured that anyone fermenting trouble should be ready to face the music.

“We’ve heard about such mobilization and I can assure you that we’re not taking it lightly.

“We already know those to hold responsible should any government property be attacked.”

Kentochmedia had reported that Dr. Mbah is currently leading his closest challenger, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party with 16747 votes.

According to the results collated, the PDP polled a total of 174,289 votes while Labour Party had 157,542 votes.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu, however said that proceeding will commence again by 8:30am on Monday to allow the commission, attend to the complaints raised by both PDP and Labour Party.

The PDP won in Uzo-Uwani, Ezeagu, Aninri, Udi, Awgu, Nkanu East, Nkanu West Enugu South and Enugu East Local Government Areas

However, Labour Party took Igboeze North, Igboeze South, Igboetiti, Oji River, Nsukka, Isi-Uzo, Udenu and Enugu North local government areas.
