In a move to ensure a peaceful and successful protest, the coordinators of the upcoming “Take It Back Movement” have disclosed the venues and routes for their planned demonstrations, scheduled to take place from August 1 to 10, 2024.

This disclosure comes in response to a request from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

In a letter addressed to the IGP, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN, counsel to the protest organizers, provided detailed information about the protest locations and requested contact details of the designated police officers

This move aims to facilitate a collaborative effort between the protesters and law enforcement to guarantee a safe and incident-free experience.

Adegboruwa’s letter emphasized the organizers’ commitment to exercising their constitutional rights while acknowledging the police’s role in maintaining public order.

By sharing this information, the organizers demonstrate their willingness to work with the authorities to ensure a successful and peaceful protest.

Meanwhile, over 20 checkpoints, manned by stern-looking security operatives, were sighted along strategic routes in Rivers State on Wednesday.

On the way to Gokana Local Government Area, motorists expressed mixed feelings about the development, with some commending the government for taking proactive measures to ensure safety, while others lament the potential disruption to their daily activities.

As tensions continue to build up ahead of the Take It Back protest, Nigerians are watching with bated breath to see how events unfold.
