In a poignant display of solidarity and compassion, members of the Opobo Elder Statesmen4Sim visited the family of the late Warisenibo (Dr) John Mark Dodd Peterside at his residence in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

The delegation, led by Chairman, Alabo Adonye Edwin Cockeye-Brown, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the grieving family following the passing of Dr. Peterside on January 2, 2024.

Expressing deep empathy, Alabo Cockeye-Brown offered words of comfort to the bereaved family and extended prayers for the peaceful burial of their esteemed member. He reassured them of the group’s unwavering support and commitment to stand by them throughout the mourning process.

Highlighting the Opobo Elder Statesmen4Sim’s dedication to community solidarity, Alabo Cockeye-Brown emphasized that the legacy of the late Dr. Peterside would endure in the hearts and minds of those he touched. He acknowledged the collective grief of the community, finding strength in the memories left behind by their departed friend.

Assuring the family of their active participation in the burial proceedings, Alabo Cockeye-Brown pledged specific packages to support them during this challenging time. The forum members joined in prayer, seeking divine comfort for the family, especially for Mrs. Folake Peterside and the four children left behind.

Senibo (Dr.) Michael Dodd Peterside, representing the deceased’s family, expressed gratitude for the Opobo Elder Statesmen4Sim’s love and compassion. He highlighted the enduring legacy and impact of Dr. John Mark Dodd Peterside on the family.

In response, Mrs. Folake Peterside, visibly moved, conveyed appreciation for the overwhelming support and stressed the significance of community during moments of grief. She shared cherished memories of her late husband, underscoring the importance of unity in overcoming such challenging circumstances.

Notable personalities, including Alabo Jack Tolofari, Alabo Stewart (Ranking), Sunday Jaja, as well as title holders and elders of Houses in Opobo kingdom, were also present during the condolence visit.
