The member representing Andoni-Opobo Nkoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep Awaji-inombek Abiante has joined the people of Andoni in a solidarity rally in support of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara.
The rally which held at Ngo Town, headquarters of Andoni Local Government Area on Saturday, attraced a mammoth crowd comprising youths, women and a handful of elders.
Speaking at the rally, the federal lawmaker said Andoni people have through the event, reaffirmed their support and unflinching loyalty for Governor Fubara.
Amidst chants of “de your de, if you de your de, nobody worry nobody” from the crowd, the council headquarters of Andoni Local Government Area was literally held down for over two hours of the solidarity rally.
Not even the vague threat issued the previous day by Council leadership could stop the outing as all activities stood still with security arrangements to ensure hitch free rally.
“The Opobo Andoni Road that was initiated and flagged off by the government of Sir (Dr) Peter Odili in 2005, remained uncompleted and abandoned until our brother stepped in.
“In less than six months, we can all drive to our villages. Why should we not support such a man”, asked Rep Abiante, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning.
Furthermore, Rep Abiante addressed the twin issues of the 8-point peace pact brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu among the political actors in Rivers State and that of political structure.
“Some of these things are unconstitutional, therefore, if we run a constitutional democracy, there has to be a second look at those issues that run contrary to the constitution”, he said.
Expectedly, the women fold were well represented in the rally that attracted a huge crowd.
“I want him to know that we are behind him . The Andoni women, traders are behind him. Our business is fish and crayfish. We say thank you, and may you continue to do more for us. We also solidly support our leader at the House of Representatives”, said Henrietta Simeon.
A member of Ijaw Youths Council in the local government area, Israel Fubara while speaking, urged the political opponents of Governor Fubara to have a rethink concerning the subsided Rivers political crisis.
“Everybody knows too well that the election that brought governor Fubara was keenly contested among the candidates. Rivers people in their various platforms, gave their votes to the governor who is of the Ijaw extraction”, he said, adding, “It’s Fubara’s turn to rule the state . Our advice to the FCT Minister is for him to reflect on what had been his position in the past”.
