The former Speaker, House of Representative, Honourable Ghali Umar Na’ Abba, aged 65 is dead.

The Kano lawmaker, born on September 27, 1958, died in Abuja Wednesday morning, family sources confirmed.

It would be recalled that late Na’Abba was said to have battled with ailment for a long time before passed away in the early hours of today.

Also, in the course of his illness, he was once flown abroad for medical treatment and stayed there for some months before he recovered and returned to Nigeria.

However, according to the sources, the remains of the the 8th Speaker would be buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites.

Late Ghali Na’Abba joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and he became the party’s candidate for Kano Municipal federal constituency, a position he subsequently won during the April 1999 general election.

Na’Abba subsequently emerged speaker of the House of Representatives after the political crisis that dethroned the first Speaker of the fourth republic, Hon. Salisu Buhari.
