Last month of July was indeed a very remarkable one for the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Imo West Senatorial District, known as Orlu Zone, which comprises of 12 Local Government Areas.
However, ahead of the scheduled gubernatorial run-up in the state, the party had embarked on a rural sensitization tour, where it interfaced with the party leaders, polling units, wards, and LGA executives, party stalwarts, and all the critical stakeholders in the zone, aimed at re-awakening their political consciousness ahead of the November 11 Governorship poll.
During the awareness creation tour around the zone, which was ably led by the APC Orlu Zonal Chairman, Barr. Kelvin Ugwu, in company of other dignitaries and state functionaries from the zone, the party recorded an impressive milestone, which serves as a veritable crucible to setting the facts straight.
IMPROVED SECURITY SITUATION IN THE ZONE:
One of the major factors that emanated from the Town Hall meetings is the fact that the Governor has been able to douse the intractable escalation of organized criminality and miscreancy in the area, with all the hoodlums perpetrating their nefarious activities in the zone totally flushed out, because all through the meetings, the people of the zone trooped out en masse to receive the party’s contingent at their respective LGA Council Headquarters in their mammoth numbers.
WIDER ACCEPTABILITY OF APC IN THE ZONE:
The sensitization tour/Town Hall meeting provided an atmosphere for the people of the zone to express their wider acceptability of the ruling APC amongst them, and demonstration of their steadfastness and determination to deliver the party to victory in the forthcoming election in the state.
VOTE OF CONFIDENCE FOR GOVERNOR HOPE UZODIMMA:
The awareness creation outreach, in no small measure, unveiled the height of implicit confidence the people of the zone reposed in Senator Hope Uzodimma, who they described as a God-sent Governor, and their illustrious son in whom they are well pleased.
It further enlightened the team of the People’s unwavering solidarity with the Governor, as they vowed to champion his re-election bid in reciprocity as their collective project; considering the high quality infrastructural development and Federal projects he attracted in the area, especially the recently awarded multi billion Naira Oguta-Orashi River Channel Dredging contract that would further develop the zone in the areas of sustainable socioeconomic growth and job creation.
IMPROVEMENT IN SOCIOECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA:
The tour really impugned the pejorative connotative analysis by agents of discord that the area is not safe for socioeconomic activities, because, of a veracious viewpoint, there were thriving social activities throughout the tour and the people seen at different locations transacting their legitimate businesses with no fear of onslaughts and violent molestations from the subdued hoodlums, who mask themselves in different guises to perpetrate their nefarious criminalities in the area before Governor Uzodimma’s assumption of office in January 2020.
GUARANTEE OF GENERAL SAFETY AND SECURITY OF IMO PEOPLE:
The Town Hall meeting, which brought the team to the general on-the-spot assessment of the coastal and the hinterland areas of the zone dispelled the wrong notion by some disgruntled speculative media propagandists and their political paymasters, who in their misguided, fabricated falsehood, had placed the entire state on a security bad-light, so as to discredit the relentless efforts of the hardworking Governor to score cheap political popularity ahead of the November gubernatorial poll.
UNITY OF THE PARTY:
The sensitization outreach gave a firsthand perspective of the party’s togetherness, mobilization, unity of purpose and cooperation amongst all segments and machineries and their sense of collective responsibility for desired victory by November 11.
STRUCTURE BUILDING AND WARM RECEPTION OF MORE DEFECTORS TO APC:
This remarkable factor cannot be overemphasized, because all through the tour, the party warmly received more leaders across other political parties, including the PDP, Labour Party, APGA, Action Alliance and others, whose patriotic conscience had motivated them to join Governor Uzodimma in his Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery initiative, which has led to massive infrastructural revolution in the state.
It equally indicated that APC in the state is the only party that is poised to building a new Imo, through massive infrastructure, and social amenities against other political parties and their desperate leaders on self delusion, with no clarity of purpose for the state.
All these milestones are major indicators that Senator Hope Uzodimma has performed aboveboard with an impressive scorecard of excellence and deserves another chance.
